Resumes for aged care and disability support work
Providers are looking for the right checks, the right certificate and language that shows respect for the people you support.
What employers in this field look for first
- Certificate III in Individual Support or Ageing Support
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and police clearance
- Personal care, medication assistance and manual handling experience
- Whether you have worked in home care, residential or supported independent living
- Driver licence and use of your own vehicle for community roles
Put these near the top of your resume
- NDIS Worker Screening Check status and expiry
- National Police Check
- First aid and CPR
- Manual handling and medication administration training
- Availability for sleepovers, split shifts or weekend work
Only list tickets, licences and checks you actually hold, with their real expiry dates. An expired ticket listed as current is the fastest way to lose an employer's trust.
Wording that works
Write about support, not management: "supported eight residents with morning personal care" rather than "managed clients".
Include the parts of the job people forget to list: documentation, incident reporting, communicating with families and allied health.
Never invent clinical tasks. If you have assisted rather than administered, say assisted.
