Resumes for healthcare and nursing roles

Clinical recruiters check registration and scope before anything else. Make your AHPRA details, settings and checks easy to verify.

What employers in this field look for first

  • AHPRA registration type and whether it is current
  • Clinical settings: acute, subacute, community, aged care, theatre, ED
  • Patient cohorts and acuity you are experienced with
  • Mandatory checks, immunisation status and NDIS or police clearances
  • Shift availability and willingness to work rotating rosters

Put these near the top of your resume

  • AHPRA registration number and division
  • National Police Check and Working with Children Check where required
  • Immunisation and infection-control compliance
  • Basic and advanced life support certification with expiry dates
  • Any specialist post-graduate study, completed or in progress

Only list tickets, licences and checks you actually hold, with their real expiry dates. An expired ticket listed as current is the fastest way to lose an employer's trust.

Wording that works

State your scope plainly. Do not describe tasks outside what your registration allows, even if you have observed them.

Ward and caseload details help: "32-bed surgical ward, 4:1 patient ratio" tells a recruiter more than a list of adjectives.

If you are new to Australia, say where your qualification was obtained and what stage your registration or bridging program is at.
